Mackey Visits the Vet

As a few of you know, bringing Mackey over here with us wasn't the easiest thing in the world. I had to start in July with shots, and have continuous appointments for check-ups and paperwork.  On top of visits to the vet, we had to have additional paperwork signed by official US government people to make Mackey's "deportation" to the United Kingdom official. We were so thankful for the people we worked with to make sure Mackey came over here without any troubles. To answer many of your questions and assumptions, no Mackey was not in quarantine at all. We followed the correct steps to avoid this step...woohoo!

Our wonderful vet, Mass Ave Animal Clinic (Shout out to the best animal clinic in Indy!) sent me an email to remind me that Mackey needed another rabies booster shot.  I have been dreading to take Mackey to the vet, not knowing if it will be that much different from our vet experiences in the United States.

As always, Mackey is such a social butterfly and loves everyone he meets.  He was showing off in the exam room by rubbing the vets and rolling around on the ground.  He has put on a few pounds or should I say kilograms since he has been over here. Their comment was "Wow, he weighs more than many dogs we see." Heard that before, Mackey is a big cat, but oh so lovable.

Mackey received his two shots needed before we travel back home again, so the timing was perfect because he won't need them for another year.  The vet was nice, although he had to step out of the room to "Google" a shot Mackey had received in Indy. He came back understanding the terminology change, but had me worried for a second. What had we gotten Mackey into? All-in-all, it was a great experience and he loved Mackey to pieces.  I think Mackey should have to go to the doctor just one more time before we head home to have his last check-up! Woohoo!
