After our drive in
Cornwall yesterday, we woke up in Bristol and drove about an hour to see the wonderful
lavender fields in the Cotswolds. Driving through the countryside was stunning. We felt like we were driving through Indiana. The roads were small, and could only fit one vehicle on at a time in most spots. It was a good thing that we loved the views so much, because despite what my research and friends said...the lavender was not in bloom yet. The shops do not officially open until next week, but I was told that the lavender would be in bloom so we would be able to see it...just not buy anything from the shops.
I was pretty devastated, and wished we had gone last summer. We have had many friends go, and their pictures are beautiful. I told Jeff that if he finds himself in that area when it comes back for the month of July to stop and take some pictures for me!
The lavender...before the bloom
It was a bummer, but I still got some amazing views of the fields and
rapeseed fields, too. We drove for a bit, and would stop periodically
to snap a few photos...which made up for my lack of lavender pictures.
We even drove through Stratford-upon-Avon, which is where Shakespeare
grew up. We didn't stop to see his house or the other famous things in
the city, because we just weren't that interested. It looked like an
adorable city though.
Rapeseed plants
We pulled off at a little farm shop with this amazing view.

On to the next adventure...
